Scenthut
Our Story

We couldn’t afford to smell this good.
So we made it possible.

Founded in 2019 by two siblings who believed smelling premium shouldn’t cost a fortune.

01 · The Beginning

It started with a problem we couldn’t ignore

Paschal loved perfumes. Always did. But as a final-year university student in Nigeria, the maths never worked. A single bottle of the real thing cost more than a month’s budget. And the affordable alternatives? They’d smell decent for an hour or two, then vanish like they were never there.

Then a friend introduced him to perfume oils. 100% undiluted, no alcohol, applied directly to the skin. The first time he wore one, it lasted the entire day. Into the evening. People noticed. People asked. That was the moment the idea clicked.

He told his sister Amaka, who was working as a medical laboratory scientist at the time. She shared the same love for fragrance, and the same frustration with the price tag that came with it. In 2019, they started Scenthut together: a way to give people access to premium scent experiences without the premium price.

Not a compromise. Not a “cheap alternative.” A genuinely better way to wear fragrance.

02 · The Hard Lesson

We learned that all perfume oils are not the same

The early days taught them something most sellers in the market don’t talk about: perfume oils come in different grades. There are cheap ones that smell close enough to pass. And then there are oils that actually match the depth, the projection, the staying power of the original fragrances they’re inspired by.

Most sellers go for the cheaper grades. More margin, less quality. Scenthut went the other way. If the goal was to replace ₦50,000 designer bottles, the oil had to perform like one. That meant sourcing the highest-grade oils they could find, testing batch after batch, switching suppliers when the quality didn’t hold up, and never settling for “close enough.”

It was harder and more expensive. But for two people raised in a family that valued integrity, there was no other way to do it.

I have been working all day and sweating yet I can still smell it on me.

We don’t just sell scents. We help you find yours

Fragrance is personal. What smells incredible on one person might not work on another. What’s perfect for a boardroom meeting isn’t what you’d wear to an owambe. Scenthut understood this early. Instead of just listing products and waiting for orders, they started having real conversations.

Every customer gets a consultation. What occasions do you dress for? What kind of impression do you want to leave? Do you prefer something bold that announces you, or something subtle that pulls people in? These aren’t just marketing questions. They’re how Scenthut matches you to the right scent.

I once told him that if he can sell perfume oil to me then he can sell to anyone in the world. I have a very sensitive body and I react to about 90–95% of perfumes. He gave me free consultation, got enough information and recommended one for me. I’m really glad because he helped me conquer my phobia for perfumes.

That review is what Scenthut is really about. It’s not about having the longest product list or the cheapest prices. It’s about understanding people well enough to recommend something they’ll genuinely love, even when they didn’t think it was possible.

04 · The Real Journey

Building something real isn’t always smooth

Scenthut wasn’t an overnight success story. It grew the honest way. One satisfied customer telling another, one five-star review at a time, one “what are you wearing?” conversation leading to a new order.

When Paschal relocated to the United States, things got harder. The time difference made managing day-to-day operations difficult, and sales dropped. But instead of letting the brand fade, Amaka stepped up, taking the reins as CEO and keeping the quality and customer experience intact while they worked through the transition.

Scenthut survived because the product was real and the customers were loyal. People didn’t come back because of discounts or flashy marketing. They came back because the oils lasted, the service was personal, and the quality never dropped.

What I noticed is that the perfume oil fragrances are strong compared to the other pack I bought before… Especially, when I open just the leather bag. Boom! The fragrance is everywhere.

06 · What We Stand For

Our principles aren’t marketing. They’re how we run

  • 1

    Quality over margin

We buy the most expensive oil grades because cheaper ones don’t perform like the originals. If it doesn’t last, it doesn’t ship.

  • 2

    Consult before you sell

We’d rather help you find the right scent than push the most popular one. Your lifestyle, your skin, your occasions. That’s what determines our recommendation.

  • 3

    Premium doesn’t mean expensive

Bottles start at ₦17,500 for 30ml. You can smell like you spent ₦50,000 without actually spending it. That’s not a compromise. It’s a smarter choice.

  • 4

    Integrity is inherited

We come from a family that built businesses on trust. We don’t do fake reviews, fake “original” claims, or products we wouldn’t wear ourselves.

07 · Where We’re Going

We’re just getting started

Seven years in, Scenthut is ready to scale. The website you’re on right now is the next chapter, moving from WhatsApp DMs and Instagram orders into a full, built-from-scratch e-commerce experience. Not because the personal touch is going away, but because more people deserve access to it.

The vision goes beyond perfume oils. Scenthut wants to become Nigeria’s go-to destination for premium scent experiences, expanding into new product categories once the foundation is solid. But the mission stays the same: everyone deserves to smell great without breaking the bank.

And we’ll still ask you what you’re wearing it for before we recommend anything.
